Bryan Ferry | Olympia @ Michael Kohn

On October 20th, Michael Kohn Gallery opened an exhibit with artist and musician, Bryan Ferry. One of the quintessential icons of modern music, Ferry came to public prominence in the early 1970's with his glam-rock band Roxy Music. The exhibit includes photographs of the eight Roxy Music album covers along with several images of Kate Moss; Ferry's muse and Olympia.

The album covers on display are beautifully stylized; glamour dresses worn by glamazon women with heavily applied make-up. The imagery depicted in the photographs are trans-sexual in nature and evokes the essence that one associates with glam-rock.

Ferry chose Kate Moss to be the face on Olympia's album cover.  Perhaps one of the most iconic and recognizable models of her generation, like Ferry she has become to represent both an idea and an attitude. "I wanted a cover girl for this record who could convey the glamorous notoriety of the original 'Olympia' painting, and my choice was Kate Moss." states Ferry. "Kate has long been the 'femme fatale' of our age, as controversial as she is beautiful, and the most glamorous female icon since Marilyn Monroe."
