Ray Caesar "The Trouble with Angels" @ Dorothy Circus Gallery

Known for his haunting imagery of porcelain skin females set in ornate settings, the essence of Ray Caesar's works are deeply rooted in the artist's subconscious mind. With his European debut, The Trouble with Angels, Caesar continues his path to self-discovery revealing the past in a dream like state. Symbolism plays a key role in this body of work; clocks, scissors, skeletons, and ants echo the passage of time and the forgotten memories that lay dormant within our psyche. "It still exists, even though it is no longer acknowledged," Caesar explains. "A certain smell, a sight of a grin with decaying teeth, or a note played on a piano can suddenly find that place in each of us, like a key unlocking the door". Dorothy Circus Gallery was a packed house on opening night with art lovers eager to view the digital master's work in person. Each piece was delicately hung on the gallery's lush red velvet walls which only enhanced the opulence in the artwork. In the spirit of Valentine's day, delicious sweets were on hand for guests to also relish and indulge their culinary senses.

Enjoy a few opening images below courtesy of the gallery and be sure to stop by Dorothy Circus when in Rome to view the artwork in person. The Trouble with Angels will be on display through April 6th.
