Sneak Peek: Brandi Milne "Here Inside My Broken Heart" Pop-up Exhibition

On Saturday, June 14th, Corey Helford Gallery will present Brandi Milne"Here Inside My Broken Heart", a pop-up exhibition in Culver City. Pulling from personal heartache, Brandi Milne creates fairy tale-like renditions filled with despair. The once happy endings are overshadowed by a dim and somber color palette, implying a turn for the worst. Milne's characters embody an emotional disturbance mirrored by the surrounding familiar objects and creatures lingering in a quiet state of desolation. Her painted portrayals of storybook surrealism are vividly imaginative and endearing. As a breathe of human emotion flows through her paintings, the sense of reality and darkness that lurks in fairy tales is heightened. Through this collection, Milne explores an honest acceptance of vulnerable anguish. “This new body of work depicts the ache of a broken heart,“ Brandi explains. “Each piece has been created out of pain on some level from what was going on in my personal life at the time. There are a few recurring visual themes laced through the work as well, elements that helped me explore the concept of bitter love and heartache."

The opening for "Here Inside My Broken Heart" will be on June 14th at a special location in Culver City and will be on view through July 12th. Take a look at a few preview images via the gallery.
